Client Welcome Center

**Photography **What To Expect From Your Custom Photography SessionI'm ecstatic that you haven chosen me to capture the moments that you'll never get back. To freeze these into one image is something that I hold dear to my heart.Day Of The Session: Be comfortable. Be you. The type of photography I love, is the documentary style. I don't pose my client so much as I capture those candid moments. Especially when it's a family session.Your Family: Allow your family to be themselves. I don't like to force smiles in children. I like to capture them when they are their most authentic selves. When smiles are forced, it shows. Either it looks fake, or the child becomes upset that you're trying to make them do something that their body isn't wanting to do at the moment. Although we want these seemingly perfect moment with grins from ear to ear, they are not realistic for all children at all times and can really show. I think the ones where they aren't smiling make for great stories when they get older. By then, they may smile more, or NOT!I usually try and get the images with children and family photos right at the start because they may lose interest in me quickly, which is perfectly fine. I have no major expectations for them and will never force them into doing anything they aren't comfortable with. It is best to prepare them for the session by telling them that a friend is going to take some photos of the family. It is always best not to surprise them._____________________________Newborn Posed PortraitWhat To Expect From Your Custom Newborn Posed Portrait SessionHere are some tips to help you prepare yourself and baby for the newborn photography session:1. Feed your baby around two hours before our scheduled time of the newborn session and then try not to feed baby again until after I arrive. If they can’t wait, feed the baby. This helps baby get in a good, full feeding right before photos.2. Keep baby awake from just after the full feeding until I arrive. This will help your newborn to be extra tired for the shoot. Baths, playing and un-swaddling work well to keep newborns awake.3. Slightly loosen baby’s diaper about two hours before your session. This helps prevent red marks.4. Wash or sponge-clean your baby’s hair on the morning of the session. This will help make sure the hair is fluffy instead of oily in the photos.5. You may want to have extra milk prepared or be ready to nurse. Feeding helps baby stay really sleepy and we may bottle-feed several times with baby in various poses/positions.6. Have baby’s pacifier handy (if you are comfortable with giving baby a pacifier). Even if the baby isn’t usually good at taking one, it can often be very helpful while they are settling into a pose.7. I recommend not putting lotion on the baby the morning of the session (it ends up making them look shiny).
8. The photo room may be hot (probably around 80 degrees) for baby to be comfortable naked, so you might be more comfortable wearing a tank top or t-shirt when we are not doing family/parent/sibling poses.

Newborn Lifestyle PortraitWhat To Expect From Your Custom Newborn Lifestyle Portrait SessionI  am  so  excited  to  capture  your  sweet  newborn.  Your  custom  newborn  session  is  done  in  the  comfort  of   your  own  home. I will come into your home and  beautifully capture this fleeting time in your life.Day Of The Session: When I arrive, I will walk around your home and scout out the best lit areas for family and sibling shots. I often use the couch, master bed, and nursery for photos. I know what it is like to have a newborn. Please don't feel like you have to clean the house before I arrive. We can easily clean up an area that we want to use for photos.Your Baby: Your newborn is perfect just the way he or she is. I don't try and make babies sleep or place them in unnatural poses. I suggest you have your newborn in a simple onesie that is form fitting with no graphics or words. This usually means you will need a preemie or newborn sized onesie. I will likely take it off and get some nude or near nude newborn photos as well. Also, please gather a few favorite swaddle blankets for baby to be wrapped in. I recommend feeding the baby as much as he or she wants about fifteen minutes prior to my arrival. Newborn sessions can take some time, that is okay. Your baby is perfect as he or she is. I do not do major posing or have any expectation on how the baby should behave (alert or asleep). We let the baby guide the session. What is important is that we capture this beautiful time in your life.Siblings:  Again, I know exactly what it is like to have a new baby, I have one of my own, and I know exactly how big this change is, but for the siblings, it’s an even bigger change in the house. I usually try and get sibling and family photos right at the start because the sibling may lose interest in me quickly. I have no major expectations for the siblings and will never force them into doing anything they aren't comfortable with. It is best to prepare the sibling for the session by telling him or her that a friend is coming to visit and take some photos of your family. It is always best not to surprise them.Mom & Dad: You are going to be thrilled and exhausted. You will likely be experiencing with the highest highs and perhaps some of the lowest lows. Having a new baby is hard and wonderful all at the same time. Remember that I am a birth doula and have previously worked in childcare with newborns specifically. I understand exactly what you are going through. My job is not to make this time in your life look perfect, my job is to show you just how beautiful it is. I want you to be relaxed and at ease when I am photographing your family. You don't need to be anything but yourself.Wardrobe: I recommend neutral colors and comfort. Please visit my Pinterest board below for some ideas on what to wear. What is most important is that you are comfortable. I am happy to discuss wardrobe with you further if you would like. Just let me know.Feel free to e-mail with any questions you might have. Thank you and I look forward to capturing you soon!_____________________________Newborn Posed PortraitWhat To Expect From Your Custom Newborn Posed Portrait SessionHere are some tips to help you prepare yourself and baby for the newborn photography session:

Client Welcome Center

Hey hey hey! Before you read through this welcome page, please have your partner present or send it to them so they may read it as well.First I would like to thank you for choosing me to assist you through one of the most sacred experiences of your existence. I am honored to be a part of your journey. Pregnancy and birth are such powerful and life changing events and should be treated with reverence. Now that that is out of the way, I want you to know that I am all about YOU. During your pregnancy as your belly grows, you will notice a shift where it’s all about baby. Everyone asks about the baby. That’s perfectly normal. I am here for YOU. During your prenatal journey and postpartum-hood, my focus is first, “Are you ok? How are you feeling? What do you need?” It’s not about me, your partner or your provider.Next to you, I am here for your family. That includes you too partner. I am not here to take over anyone’s role. I can never fill those shoes. It’s not my place. You [partner] are crucial to the birthing space. You are the most familiar person in the space to the birther. I am here to support you in supporting the birthing person. That means that if you need a nap during birth (you will), we tag team if necessary. Once baby arrives, you’ll need to have rested because you won’t be able to put them down at all! Also remember, intentionally practice relaxing your pelvic floor, especially during your practice waves. When birth waves start, do it through the easy ones. Relax your bottom, face and every muscle in your body. Don’t dread the next wave. Ride it and move forward once it’s over. The only way through this is through you. Eat and rest.I am here to help guide and support you both during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. So congratulations on choosing to bring forth life! Certificates & Trainings

Shown below are some of the certificates and training I have received.

Meet your photographer

Hello, my name is Tranita Excellent Turner. I am 33 years old, I’m married and a mother of a little girl and boy.I was born and raised in Central Florida, but found my way to Puerto Rico by way of Colorado. I am a DONA International trained Birth Doula and I also have experience with Hypnobabies.I have been passionate about birth since I was very young witnessing my first birth at age 9. I grew up unafraid of birth because I’d witnessed it first hand with my mother's 3 births. Throughout my life, birth seemed to be something that fascinated me and just seemed so natural. I've always been the person informed on birth, willing to lend my knowledge when requested and one to believe in birth and women's rights well before my own pregnancy and birth.I received a bachelors degree of science in psychology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. I started a marriage and Family therapy Masters program and decided that it just wasn’t the path for me. I had to go back to my first love. Birth.I withdrew from my program in late 2018 and decided that the next journey I would embark on would be to become a Doula and support birthers. Shortly after, I became pregnant myself and was advised to take that time to adjust to pregnancy and postpartum before continuing my journey to becoming a doula.I did just that and am now a DONA International certifying doula. I am so excited to be able to assist birthers in bringing their Littles into the world. I'm excited to help them find their voices so that they can advocate for themselves during one of the most crucial and life changing experiences of their existences.I believe that birthers should birth the way they truly want to birth with the ability to make informed decisions. I am ready to offer emotional and physical support to birthers and help them experience their rendition of A Blissful Birth. When I was 11 years old, I made the decision that I wanted to become an OBGYN. I had helped my mom labor 3 births and witnessed 2 by that time. I remember telling a friend of my mom about what I wanted to do. The conversation went something like thisMe: “I want to be an OBGYN when I grow up.”
Her: “🥴 you want to sit between women’s legs all day?”
That impacted me so much. Although I was still enamored with birth, the dream of becoming a doctor was dead. Be careful what you say to children. You never know what dream your words could be killing.Although my life has taken an entirely different path than it may have had that woman never said what she had said to me, I feel as though the course of my life has gone exactly how it was destined to go.Birth is something that has always been a passion of mine and I’ve been drawn to it naturally. Like it literally calls me yall!Anyway! I applied for a midwifery program and I’ve been accepted. I am set to officially begin core classes spring of next year but will most likely start a couple of general courses in this coming fall! I am so excited!Midwifery is so necessary. I don’t think people know how much. It’s one of the most selfless professions on the planet. I cannot wait to assist birthers as they bring tiny humans Earthside. Especially black women. Representation matters so much. Especially during one of the most important experiences of a person’s existence. So, now I’m opening my mouth. You have not because you ask not right? So I’m asking for help. I will need assistance with tuition fees. FAQs

What is a doula?A doula is a person hired to provide guidance and support (physical, and emotional) to a birthing person during the stages of birth. A doula is NOT a midwife, a doula is NOT a medical personnel. A doula does NOT catch babies, do cervical checks or anything related to medical care during your pregnancy or birthing time. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Is a doula worth it?Absolutely! A doula is someone at your birth who is well versed in birth, outside of a midwife, OB or nurse. A doula is there to support you and your family.•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Will the doula take the place of my partner and family? No. Your doula is there to support you as well as your other support persons. They are able to trade off and give your family rest while you’re still taken care of. Your doula is the calm one in the storm. While the doula does care for you, reactions are not fear or emotionally driven as it might be for your loved ones.•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••What are the benefits of having a doula?Having a doula can decrease the risk of Cesarean by 25%-39%.
It increases the likelihood of having a spontaneous vaginal birth by between 8%-15%.
There has been a noted 31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birthing person's birth experience
with the continued support of a doula.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••Why is there a booking fee?The booking fee goes towards the total cost of any services that your doula or photographer is providing. Because births are spontaneous, your doula is on-call for 2 weeks prior to and after your guess date. This mean, no vacation, going out of town, or booking anyone else’s birth surrounding yours. This is the reason why there’s a booking fee and why it’s non-refundable. This fee is to secure the approximate date of your baby’s arrival. So don’t hesitate to call when the time comes.
